Carving wood by hand is a slow and repetitive process but at LUCUS Craft I get into a rhythm chipping away and love it. I work out of a fixed up old barn in the backyard on a little island in the east coast of Canada. I’m a self taught woodcarver and I’m interested in the patterns time creates. Routines are just patterned events. Each line represents the event of its own creation. These carvings are documents of time.
I wish to capture the liminal beauty hidden in transient moments that catch us off-guard. Through my wood carvings I attempt to document these ephemeral events that are easily missed in our typically humdrum lives.
