| In 2009 Irvings Farm Fresh opened our new 1500 ft2 butcher shop, and have continued to invest as we grow. Our business continues to expand, and we are proud to employ several full and part time local people, to work with us. | At Golden Prairie Wild Boar Meat our wild boars are raised free range on the plains of Saskatchewan. We allow our wild boars to behave naturally by having their young outside in a nest they have prepared themselves out of straw and grass. Wild boar is different in taste and texture to domestic pig. The colouring of the wild boar meat is a lot darker than normal pork and has its own unique taste. This type of meat is very lean due to the animals’ fat being concentrated in a single layer under the skin instead of it being marbled throughout the meat. Steerman’s Quality Meats is a proud producer of Prince Edward Island Certified Beef. I, Scott Drake of Steerman’s Quality Meats, was raised on the family farm at 131 Drake Rd, Millview PEI. My Father and Grandfather were butchers and farmers. In 1985 I graduated with the nickname “farmer.” This is when I started farming full time at home, raising beef cattle, hogs and growing turnips, hay, grass silage and grains.
