At Down To Earth our primary product is unpasteurized honey. We bring honey supers (open wooden boxes that bees store honey in) in from our bee yards, extract the honey, strain out any large particulates, and pour the honey into containers.
Chicks are ordered and brought to the farm in late spring. While it’s still cold, the chicks are raised inside under heat lamps. Once they are strong enough to be outside, the chickens are moved to ‘hoop huts’ (moveable roosts) with temporary fences to keep out predators. Every few days the chickens are moved to new grass. Chickens are given feed for additional sustenance. That being said, we do not use antibiotics or growth hormones.
