Native of Quebec, Brigitte Gourdeau is initiated into various pictorial techniques with Quebec artists such as Albert Rousseau, Jean-Guy Desrosiers, Pierre Hamel, Georgette Pihay. Gourdeau obtained his college diploma in plastic arts in 1983 at the Campus Notre-Dame de Foy, in Quebec.
Subsequently, she left for Europe where she explored the techniques of drawing, engraving, painting, photography, sculpture at the École Supérieure d’Art Visuel (ESAV, now Haute École d’Art et de Design, HEAD), as well as the history and sociology of art at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. In 1988, she obtained her type A diploma, three-dimensional option at ESAV. Until 1996, the artist runs creative workshops and exhibits in the Rhône Alpes region.
Her works appear in various private and public collections, including the Collection of Prints of the Annecy Library Network, France and the Collection of Works of Art in the City of Charlesbourg, Quebec.
