Founded in 1948 by Stanislas Labbé and Elmina Fortin, Laiterie Charlevoix pasteurized and distributed farmers’ milk until the 1960s. Over the decades, the company abandoned the sale of dairy products to concentrate on the production of Cheddar, retail and distribution. It was in the 90s that we began producing fine cheeses, thus becoming the first cheese dairy to make the leap in Quebec.
