The Menard Bakery bakery exists since 1911, but it is only since 1926 that it belongs to the Ménard family. Gilbert was the first owner. In 1956, Gilbert sold to his son Marcel, who sold him, in 1978, to Gérald, then in 1996 Stéphane acquired it. Stéphane is therefore part of the fourth generation.
At first, they only sold bread, then Marcel had the idea of making baked beans. At that time, people brought their own cauldrons on Saturday evenings for Marcel to cook during the night and the next day, after mass, they came back to pick up their baked beans and buy good hot bread. Baked beans, simmered using a very personal recipe and cooked in a wood-fired oven, quickly achieved a good reputation.
