Our goal at Sugarbush Vineyards is to produce small quantities of hand-crafted premium-quality wines sourced entirely from our vineyard. We start producing premium wines in our vineyard where we limit grape yields to 2 – 2.5 tonnes/acre. Our total production varies year-to-year, but we tend to produce between 2400 – 3000 cases now that our vineyard is in its prime.
Our wines are only available at our retail store, a select number of restaurants, and at various LCBO stores in South/Eastern Ontario. Our vineyard is 13 acres (5+ hectares) of vinifera varietials: Cabernet Franc, Gamay, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Viognier. We established an 8.5 acre vineyard in 2002 and 2003. Additional acres were planted in 2012, 2015, and 2017.
We had our first harvest in the fall of 2006 and opened our winery retail store in September 2007. Sugarbush Vineyards was picked for our vineyard/winery name, as the back 6-7 acres of our 48 acre property contains sugar Maples.
