The seed for Virchew was planted in 1989 by our Founder, Laura Simonson. In 2009 after a serendipitous happening at a local Whole Foods and due to the love of dogs – two plant-based, boisterous border collies, specifically, Shanti followed by Seva – the company’s development plan was birthed.
After several years of market research and strategic timing, and funded 90% by women, Virchew was commercially launched in 2020. Virchew now serves up the first plant protein-based, hypoallergenic: meals, treats and toppers for dogs across Canada, supported by industry-busting veterinary nutrition programs and unsurpassed, highly-lucrative B2B partnerships.
