Jolicure is the name of the area where the farm is located. It is a wind swept marsh with a small wooden church, several cattle farms, fields, marshes, and an old cemetery. At first, Jolicure seemed a rather inhospitable and a difficult place to live, until I planted a garden. Historical references have indicated Jolicure is the last name of a French family which first settled the area. The meaning of the name roughly translates to pretty or happy heart.
Jolicure Farm is a small off-grid farm. Solar powered in every way!Jolicure farm strives to use the best practices to support healthy soil and a healthy ecosystem. This means no pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers. The Farm and Homestead is also completely off grid. All of the electricity consumed by the farm (and the farmer!) is generated from photovoltaics – Solar energy and Wind.
